Collection: Olive Oil from Egypt

Olive oil was one of the major commodities in the ancient Mediterranean.   It enveloped and permeated Canaanite, Phoenician, Greek, and Roman cultures, and was present in Egypt long before.

Approximately 5,000 years ago, olive oil was produced on a regular basis in Egypt and used for a broad variety of purposes in antiquity: fuel for cooking, lighting, and heating; personal hygiene; craft; and within the daily diet.

Large proportions of Greek, Roman, and presumably Phoenician agricultural texts are devoted to the production of oil. The detail within these texts is staggering. It extends to precise instructions for creating olive oil as well as recipes for various types. Combined with surviving iconography and art that depicts these processes. Egyptian olive oil is truly a product of antiquity.

Egyptian extra virgin olive oil is pressed from olives harvested from the fertile soil alongside Egypt's Eastern Coast, famous as the home of lemons, mangoes, and figs.

The olive oil derived from these olives is full-bodied, aromatic, and intensely flavored. It's beautiful green color mirrors the bountiful lands from which it is sourced or pressed from olives grown in the rocky earth and mountainous terrain of Sinai.

Purified by mountain air, the resulting oil is exceptionally smooth and has a slightly milder taste than other olive oils, ensuring it doesn't overpower the palate. The golden color of this oil is typical of olives grown at high altitude and is reflective of its origins from the Sinai Peninsula.

You can find Egyptian olive oil with tastes that are herbily bold, intensely tangy, peppery mildly buttery or tangy to delight your tastes.
